Trevathan, 77, of Midwest City, passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2002 after a brief but valiant struggle with cancer. He was born to Robert & Emma Christine (Bishop) Trevathan on Feb. 21, 1925 in Detroit, MI. He served with distinction in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the battleship USS Pennsylvania. After the war, he taught English in Japan. He retired several years ago after serving as Chief Historian at Tinker AFB. He played weekly games of racquetball and was very active in the Midwest City Senior Citizen Center. He was the author of several books, countless short stories, plays, articles, and poems. He was inducted in the Oklahoma Professional Writers Hall of Fame in 1993. He won the 'Colt 45 Award' for Western Fiction Writing for his novel 'Ballanger' and was also known for his books 'Tracking the Bar J Gold,' 'Oklahoma Outrider,' 'Plunder Trail,' 'Ambush' and many more. Robert is survived by his son & daughter; Evan Trevathan of CO, and Allison Johnson of MI, wife Minnie of the home, step-children: Robert E. Mackey of Norman, Lanelle Greenwood of MWC, Michelle Hurtt of St. Peters, MO, Paula Kriz of OKC, Todd Mackey of Mobile, AL, Judy Snow of Del City, and Carol Burham of MWC, 26 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, 08/12/2002 at the Barnes & Johnson F.H. Chapel with burial in Arlington Cemetery. Barnes & Johnson F.H. 1820 S.
