Bill was born in Oakland, California on October 20th, 1952 and would have seen his 54th birthday this week. Bill was raised in San Lorenzo, California by Robert and Viola Taylor, preceding him in death respectively in 2003, and his mother two months ago in Ashland, Oregon. As a child Bill played Little League Baseball with passion, loved all sports and was a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders for his entire life. Bill moved to Colorado in his early 20's, and then returned to California to attend college in Chico. He eventually found his way to the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later moved to Oklahoma City where he remained for the past fifteen years. Bill gave his life to Christ on March 12th, 1993 when he was baptized at Christian Faith Fellowship and remained a faithful member for thirteen years until his death. Bill was part of several ministries at Christian Faith Fellowship: The Brotherhood, The Choir, Evangelism Team, and Avid Learners of God's Word. Bill earned the Soul Winner of the Year Award in June 2003-2004 and remained one of the leading soul winners thereafter. Bill leaves behind a community of friends who loved him, including James and Trudie Johnson and their loving family with whom Bill resided. He also is survived by his sister Kathleen Petersen (Thomas) of Ashland, Oregon; sister Diane Yepez of Oakland, California; brother Bob Taylor (Marilyn) of Honolulu, Hawaii; sister Elizabeth Taylor of San Leandro, California; neices Ursula and Haley Petersen of Ashland, Oregon; Amy Taylor Clark (Mike) Oregon; Heidi Taylor of New York; Jennifer and Jaime Taylor of California; nephews Lawrence Yepez (Ginny) of Texas; Michael Yepez (Kelly) of Nevada; Ron Yepez (Eileigh) of Washington; Jeremy Taylor of California and numerous great-neices and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Bill was a tender heart, always helping others in need. In a college paper written in the 1970's, Bill is quoted: "I feel that today's college student is justified in a protest of the war. I don't believe in any kind of violence, but you can have a non-violent revolution. Another relevant reason for non-violent protest is that we want factual information on world-wide incidents to become a part of college courses, and students will protest if this information is censored before the whole truth reaches that class. Any type of protest must be of the non-violent type, never a violent rebellion of any kind..." His tender spirit will now soar. A Memorial Service is planned on Thursday Oct. 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Bill's church, Christian Faith Fellowship, 1301 N. Pennsylvania Avenue Oklahoma City, Ok. 73106. Sr. Pastor Archbisop Ray Brown, Officiating. Bill's ashes will return to Ashland, Oregon with his sister Kathy, and will be scattered in several places dear to Bill's heart.
