All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Rose Hill Burial Park--OKC OK Tohgi, Dr. Fumimoto Dr. Fumimoto Tohgi, 73, of Oklahoma City was born on January 8, 1929, in Japan, and passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2002, in Oklahoma City. He was born in Japan to Katsuchiyo Yamashita and Fumitaka Tohgi. His name is registered at the Emperor's Palace. Dr. Tohgi grew up in Japan and was very active from high school to university in contact sports, such as Karate in which he earned his black belt, Judo, Kendo, Aikido and speed ice skating. He also was the captain of the horse team. After graduating from high school, he attended Nihon University in Tokyo, Japan, and earned his bachelor's degree in business in 1966. In 1974, he attended Nihon Jusei College, in Tokyo, Japan, obtaining a degree and his license in Bone and Joint. His acupuncture degree was received from Hirose Acupuncture Institute in Tokyo, Japan. During the Tokyo Olympic Games, he was the bone and joint physician for the Poland Team. In 1974, he came to the United States of America and attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, where he obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1977. He obtained his license to practice in 1977 in Oklahoma and has maintained his practice in Oklahoma City for this period of time. In 1985 he obtained his license with the newly created National Commission Board of Acupuncturists. He was a member of the Oklahoma State Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association, Diplomate in the American Academy of Pain Management, Diplomate of the American Board of Nutritional and Naturopathic Therapy, National Chronic Pain Outreach Association, The American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Oklahoma Acupuncture Association, and the Japan American Association of Oklahoma. He was nominated for inclusion in the Who's Who of American Universities and Colleges and the Who' Who of Executive and Professionals. Survivors include his wife, Taeko Tohgi of the home; step-son, Cliff Johnson of Tulsa, OK; step-daughter, Takami and husband, Jason Witover and grandson, Joshua of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Ryoko Ban, Tachiko Tohgi and Miyoko Tohgi, and other relatives from Japan, as well as numerous friends and physicians. To celebrate his eventful life, services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2002, at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home, 1401 N W 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK. Interment will be at his family burial plot in Kyoto, Japan, and Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
