Wightman passed away on March 16, 2003 in Winter Park, Florida, surrounded by his loving children. He was born in Chittenango Falls, New York on April 17, 1924. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Burrell Blair Wightman and Grace Richardson Wightman and his brother Wayne Wightman. He was raised in Pontiac, Michigan and served in the Army during World War II. Following the War, he worked for General Motors Corporation in Houston and Oklahoma City. He completed his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University and received his LLB and his JD degrees from Oklahoma City University. Mr. Wightman was a member of the American Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, the American Judicature Society and the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. He was a past member of the Masons, a member of the Lions Club, and a member of Delta Phi, Honorary Legal Fraternity. He is survived by his sister Betty Moore, St. Cloud, Fl and his four children, Merrie Ann Woodward, Plano, TX, Robert W. Wightman, Dallas, TX, Corrine M. Wightman Johnson, Winter Park, FL and Richard W. Wightman, Aurora, CO. He had 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City on April 5, 2003 at 4:00 P.M.
