She was born September 23, 1916, in Harrah, Oklahoma, to John and Helen Kusek. She married Elzie Woods in 1939. Vickie, a 62-year member of Sr. Joseph Old Cathedral, blessed everyone she encountered with her contagious smile, infectious laugh and love of life. Vickie was a most loving, kind, caring and generous person and a true friend. Her talents were many - from taking care of everyone's children, taking care of the sick and elderly, volunteering in the nursing home, to being an excellent seamstress (including sewing habits for the Benedictine nuns), to being an absolutely wonderful cook, sharing her baked goods (her plum bread and other goodies) with all, the bake sales. So loved and respected was Vickie, that she was chosen Lady of Achievement by the women of the parish. She was also an active member of Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society and the Social and Charitable Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers - John Jr., Andy, George and four sisters - Agnes Kusek, Ann Strickland, Chris Mays, and Louise Oatsvall. Vickie is survived by three children: Carolyn, George and wife Jane, Robert and wife Linda, three grandchildren - Preston, Rob and Amy Woods, one great-grandson George Woods, three step-grandchildren, Chris, Bobby and Melanie Kluding, four step-great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Lani and Lindsey Kluding, her devoted and loving sister, Martha Drew and husband George, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends who love and adore her. A wake service will be held at St Joseph Old Cathedral downtown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2002. The ladies of the Catholic Daughters will recite the rosary at 6:00 p.m. prior to the wake service. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 10:00 am. at St. Joseph Old Cathedral. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Vickie will be sorely missed by all who knew her. We love you and we will miss you.
