Lorena Dell Willis

SILVERTON - Lorena Dell "Myrt'' Willis, 88, died Friday, May 23, 1997 in 
Tulia.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the 
Rev. Lee Roark, chaplain of Baptist St. Anthony's Health System in 
Amarillo, and the Rev. Randy Thomas, pastor, officiating. Burial will be 
at Silverton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Willis was born in Coleman County. When she was young, she moved to 
Roaring Springs and to White Flats. She then moved to New Mexico by wagon 
train. She rode horseback, helping herd cattle during the move.

She started school in New Mexico. Her family returned to White Flats when 
she was 13 years old. She operated a mercantile store.

She married Bill Edwards in 1934 at Oklahoma. He died in 1981.

Survivors include a son, Harold Edwards of Vigo Park; a sister, Flora Lee; 
two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
