'Turk' Womack, age 84, of Oklahoma City will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2002 in The Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with Rusty Stowe, pastor of the Exchange Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. J.D. 'Turk' Womack was born December 19, 1917 in Stratford, Oklahoma the son of Dee Lumas and Iva (Lewis) Womack. He attended public schools in Stratford, later moving to Wayne, Oklahoma where he was united in marriage to Miss Esther Cary on December 8, 1938. Later in 1941, Turk and Esther moved to Oklahoma City where Turk was employed as a machinist with Demco, retiring in 1982 after 23 years of service, Turk was a member of the Exchange Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Esther Womack of the home; one son, J.D. 'Butch' Womack and his wife Jill of Garland, TX; three daughters, Freeda Mathis of Dallas, TX; Rita Nelson and her husband Bob of New Braunfels, TX; and Anita Ramirez of Moore, OK; two brothers, Everett Womack of Amarillo, TX and Jimmy Womack of Midwest City, OK; two sisters; Cleo Pierce of Ardmore, OK and Iva Dee Curtis of Noble, OK; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one son in-law, Julian Ramirez of Newcastle, OK. Turk was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Louis Womack; one sister, Mae Cawthorn; and one son-in-law, Kent Mathis. Burial will conclude in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of the Resthaven Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.
