Sixth street, at an early hour yesterday morning, presented her husband with a bouncing baby boy. The mother and child were doing well at last reports. Mr. Phillips, who is a prominent lumber dealer, has prepared an application for the junior to join the order of Hoo Hoo and claims that the little fellow uttered the first name of the organization with his first breath. Gumphrey on Thursday entertained a number of young ladies at her home in Oak Park in honor of her daughter, Veronica, the occasion being the latter's sixteenth birthday anniversary. Carnations were the favors, a delightful dinner was served, a musical program rendered and a pleasant hour of dancing enjoyed. (04/18/1906) April 15 was "Grandma" Ferguson's seventy-seventh birthday and Monday afternoon a few of her friends of Grant W.R.C., of which she is an honored and the oldest member, called at her home, No. 412 West Washington street to pay their respects to her. As she has been quite ill for some time, they were surprised to find her propped up in bed, looking very bright and cheerful, awaiting them. They soon surrounded her with lovely carnations and other flowers and all kinds of fruits, showing in many ways their love for her. She expressed the wish for them to eat lunch with her, and as all had gone with well filled baskets, coffee, cake and fruit was served which Grandma enjoyed very much. After a pleasant visit, they bade her good bye, with hearty wishes for many more birthdays for her. The names of ladies who called are Mesdames Bradney, Stone, Shank, Meade, Fuchner, Borts, Lowery, Fuller, Hadlock, Hepler, Lucker, McVey, Fagan, Brotherton, Parman, Slivers and Munger. (04/21/1906) Mr. and Mrs. P. Berdnard Rogers are the parents of a particularly beautiful baby girl, which arrived yesterday morning. The little daughter comes by its beauty and winsomeness very naturally as its mother is one of the loveliest young matrons in the city. Mrs. Rogers is living with her mother, Mrs. Eli Rockefeller, and her sister, Mrs. Caroline Ball, who spent the winter in Phoenix, Ariz., returned home also last week to be there when the stork arrived. Highley is passing out the cigars to his friends these days, his liberality being due to the fact that a fine daughter arrived at his home on Monday. Graham Burnham of Thomas, Okla., and Clifton George, of Tulsa, I.T., are registered at the Lee. They are both former residents of Oklahoma City. These gentlemen are on their way to St. Joseph, Mo., where Mr. Burnham takes charge of the American Advertising Indicator company as general manager. The democratic forces of the Fifth ward were augmented Wednesday by the arrival of a boy baby at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Connolly, 600 East Sixth street. The mother and the youthful addition to the house of Connolly are doing nicely, but John is wearing ice poultices upon his throbbing temples. The politicians of the new state and the readers of the Oklahoman, who have been missing the good political stories that come down from Guthrie almost every day from Corb M. Sarchet, the Oklahoman's correspondent at the capital city, may feel relieved temporarily, if the news columns fail to contain any announcements of prospective candidates for new state offices. (06/24/1906) An 11-pound boy arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sarchet in Guthrie Friday and as a result the Oklahoman news bureau was immediately locked up and the keys thrown out of the window. Perhaps Corb is whispering in the ear of the new arrival the joyous news of statehood and what a proud day it will be for his parents when they witness his inauguration into the governorship—of the home. WORTH WOMAN BECOMES MOTHER ON BOARD TRAIN El Reno, Okla., Dec. 21—Mrs. Charles Bright, of Fort Worth, Tex., en route to Wichita, Kan., gave birth to a baby boy at 5:10 o'clock this evening on north bound Rock Island passenger train No. 12, running late between Duncan and Marlow. Conductor Eck Libbey assured the mother that the train would reach its destination at Wichita before the youngster became a voter. The traveling men on the train did the regal act by making up a handsome purse and presenting it to the mother with their compliments. "Rock Island" Bright, as the commercial travelers have named the newcomer, and his mother both are doing nicely. (12/26/1906) Mr. and Mrs. R.M.
