He was born Monday, March 7, 1938 to J.W. and Mable (Hyde) Boyd in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1956 and then in December 1956, he joined the United States Navy and retired in 1977. He later retired from Kelco in 1994 and in January 1995, he married Linda Rhodes Carlile. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge and the Calvary Baptist Church of Okmulgee. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister: Daisy Smith; sister-in-law: Pearl Boyd and brother-in-law: Johnny Tipton. Survivors include: wife, Linda Boyd of the home; one son: Jack Paul Boyd, Jr. of Eufaula; one step-daughter: Carrie Carlile of Okmulgee; three brothers: Mose Boyd of Henryetta, Harold Boyd and wife, Ruth of Prescott Valley, AZ, and John Boyd and wife, Earline of Sun City, AZ; two sisters: Dean Tipton of Henryetta and Velma Rinehart and husband, Bob of Welling; mother and father-in-law: Loran and Betty Rhodes; two grandchildren: Alexius Boyd, age 10 and Jaxson Boyd, age 6 and special friends: Don and Gayle Jennings and many others. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 27, 2005 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Lawrence Matlock officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Don Jennings, Jim Gainor, Jim Bauman, Dearl Long, Bennie Stephenson and Ed Eslick. Military Honors will be provided at the gravesite by the United States Navy. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Kelley Chapel in Okmulgee.
