Brownfield, 85, a resident of McAlester, died Monday, April 3, 2006 in McAlester, Oklahoma. He was born Wednesday, January 5, 1921 to Gordon and Alice (Howell) Brownfield in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Mr. Brownfield served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Vernon and Billy Jo Brownfield and two sisters: Louise Forsythe and Julie Mae Stump. Survivors include: one daughter: Sharron Burwell and husband, esse of Hoffman; one son: Vernon R. Brownfield of Okmulgee; four brothers: Jim Brownfield and wife, Iris of Okmulgee; Oscar Brownfield and wife, Leveda of Okmulgee; Tommy Brownfield and wife, Rowena of Hoffman and Fred Brownfield and wife, Edna of Dewar; one sister: Betty Butler of Joplin, Missouri; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Hoffman Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Vance officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Hoffman Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
