She was born Thursday, October 4, 1917 to Pearl and Sophia (Claybourn) Howard in Kell, Illinois. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Okmulgee. She worked many years as a Dental Tech in Okmulgee and also worked at the Rehab Center at O.S.U Okmulgee. Survivors include: one son: Bill Byars and wife, Caron of Okmulgee; six grandchildren: Pamela Sanders of New Brighton, Minnesota; Paula Bhanji of Orange, California; Calvin Palmer of Vilonia, Arkansas; Chris Byars of Morris; Todd Byars of Okmulgee and Jason Byars of Eufaula and fourteen great grandchildren. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006 at the Kelley Chapel in Okmulgee with Reverend Marvin Buell and Reverend Ken Book officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the Jordan Chapel Cemetery near Dix, Illinois. In memory of Mrs. Byars, the family would like memorials be made to the Calvary Baptist Ministries for the New Dormatory: PO Box 834 Eufaula, Ok 74432. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kelley Chapel. Services are under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
