Coker, 84, a resident of Preston, died Saturday, August 27, 2005 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born Thursday, May 19, 1921 to Ober and Tilda (Fields) Coker in Paden, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII and on October 3, 1953, he married Jorene Anderson in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Newtown Methodist Church, American Legion Post 10, an AARP member and the VFW Post 1189 of Okmulgee. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Nellie Coker and brother: Cecil Coker. Survivors include: wife: Jorene Coker of the home; one sister: Elizabeth Coker of Eufaula; one sister-in-law: Imogene Anderson Wilkerson of Lawton; nephews: Ted Waller and Richard Anderson both of Preston; niece: Katrina Coker of Albuquerque, New Mexico and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at the Newtown United Methodist Church in Okmulgee with Reverend June Thomas officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home. Military Honors will be provided by the Creek Nation Honor Guard at the gravesite. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kelley Chapel.
