	Joe M. Conkin, 92, a resident of Checotah, died Friday, 

September 22, 2006 in Thomas, Oklahoma. He was born Tuesday, 

May 12, 1914 to Ray Tecumseh and Gertrude (Crowe) Conkin 

in Gainesville, Missouri.

	

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jack Conkin; 

daughter: Margret Bowles and brother: Howard Conkin.  

	

Survivors include his wife, Alberta Conkin of the home; 

one son: Don Conkin and wife, Carol of Thomas, Oklahoma; 

one daughter: Dorothy Eugea and husband, Dale of Belleville, 

Illinois; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. 

	

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, 

2006 at the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee 

with Reverend Everett Lerch officiating. Burial will follow the 

service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the 

Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee. 

	

Family will greet friends Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 

p.m. at the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home Chapel.
