Genny was born August 13, 1924 in Henryetta. She was the daughter of Fred and Theresa Barcellino. On September 9, 1944 she married her true love, Audie Counterman. She graduated from Henryetta High School in 1944. Genny enjoyed her work at the elementary school cafeteria. She was a quilt maker. Her life long accomplishments were being a devoted wife and a loving mom and grammy. Genny is survived by her two daughters, Carol McDonald and her husband Mike of Sweet Springs, Missouri and Norma Kay Decker and her husband John of Lafayette, Colorado. She was adored by her four grandchildren; Amy Pinney, Ryan Decker, Janna Alkire and Ayrica Wood. She loved to play with her four great grandsons; Dane Pinney, Bryce and Luke Alkire and Brody Wood. Her two surviving sisters are Frances Gizzi and Kathleen Applebee. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Norma Archer and Vera Barcellino and a brother, Junie Barcellino. Genny was loved by all of her family and friends. She always had a pot of coffee on and homemade pies and cookies. She enjoyed many outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. She loved music and dancing. A celebration service to honor her life will be held on September 29th at the Immanual Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. where she was a member. Family and friends will gather in the Fellowship Hall of the church prior to the 2:00 o’clock service. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery. Genny’s family wish to thank Hospice Care of Boulder, Dr. Anne Giesen, and the staff at Manor Care for their loving care. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N.
