Grant (April 12, 1951 - September 28, 2006) Mr. Jerry L. Grant, in his 55th year, surrendered his soul on Thursday, September 28, 2006 from St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. Mr. Grant was born in Okmulgee on April 12, 1951, the son of Odies and Lois [Johnson] Grant, Sr. Jerry grew up in Okmulgee, where he attended school and graduated from Historic Dunbar High School with the Class of 1969. While at Dunbar, Jerry played football for the Tigers. Mr. Grant was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was active in the Adult Choir, the Brotherhood and training to serve as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. He leaves to lament his passing; his loving wife, Joyce Faye, of the home in Okmulgee; his daughters, Crystal Powdrill, Tulsa, Catrina Jones, Okmulgee and Gerry Grant, Tulsa; his sisters, Larzetta Grant and Carolyn Grant, both of Okmulgee and Gwendolyn Jennings, Tulsa; 8 grandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and friends. The final tribute for Mr. Grant will be on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church. The Pastor, Reverend Judson Fields, will officiate. The Christian Committal will follow in the Northwest Cemetery in Okmulgee. You may visit Jerry, as he slumbers at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
