She passed away September 30, 2006 in Henryetta, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years 9 months and 24 days. She worked as a Nurses Aid at Henryetta Hospital for Dr. Carlton E. Smith for many years, and later worked at the Henryetta Medical Center. She was a member of the Methodist Church. While living in Hawaii she attended the Keaau New Hope Church in Keaau, Hawii from 1997 - 2004. She was married to Ode Hamon on September 18, 1933 Preceeded in death by parents, husband Ode Hamon September 30, 1972; two brothers: Alvin and Tom Covey; three sisters: Stella Stuart, Martha Stuart, and Dovie Reid. Survived by: daughter, Marlyn Harris and husband Ken of Henryetta OK; sister: Nola Bryan of Tyler TX; six grandchildren: Chris Smith and wife April of Douglasville GA; Bryan Gray of Biloxi MS; Mary Montez of Lakewood WA; Crystal Harris of Santa Barbara CA; A.J. and Nathan Harris of Henryetta OK. Four great grandchildren: Hayley & Damion Gray of Manteca CA, Sky Montez of Lakewood WA, and Ashley Smith of Douglasville GA. Four nieces: Diana Shelton and husband Robert of Splendora TX; Virginia Barr and husband Ray of Houston TX; Bernice and Helen Stuart; three nephews James Bryan and wife Glee of Genoa, OH, B.G. Hamon of Garfield, GA, and Pat Hamon of Charleston, SC. Viewing for Mrs. Hamon will begin Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m Pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Bryan Gray, Mike Pulliam, David Yocham, Rick Been, and Ken Harris. Services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:30 am at Shurden Chapel officiated by Rev. Rik Marion. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.
