She died Jan. 4, 2007, in Coos Bay. Cremation was at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory in Coos Bay. Viola Fay Lindsey, a loving mother, was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Heneryeta, Okla., to James and Flaura Huddleston. They and her six siblings headed for Oregon when she was just 3 weeks old. She often told the story of when they reached the beautiful Emerald Valley, her mother said they had reached paradise. She was raised and lived in the Willamette Valley area until she met the love of her life, L.A. Lindsey, in California, and they were married Nov. 17, 1941. The two of them spent the short time together before he was called to serve our country in World War II in Marysville, Calif. Following his return from the war and after several years of trying, the couple gave birth to their first child of five in 1953. She was a loving, devoted stay-at-home mother, doing everything possible to ensure the perfect childhood her children all remember so fondly. This beautiful lady loved singing, laughing and flowers in bloom, but most of all, she loved her family and they loved her deeply. She is survived by her five children, Terrie Gale, Jim Lindsey, Janet Harper, Cliff Lindsey and Tammy Tice, all of Coos Bay; 12 grandchildren; and 13-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years, seven siblings and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to South Coast Hospice, 1620 Thompson Road, Coos Bay, OR 97420. Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
