He was born Friday, December 11, 1925 to Willis Ray and Agnes (Churchill) Marchant in Baxter County, Arkansas. On September 28, 1946, he married Orila Chasteen in Okmulgee. Mr. Marchant served in the United States Army during WWII. He was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church for over 56 years and served as a Deacon of the church for over 40 years. He owned and operated Marchants General Store in Hitchita for 13 years and worked for Dresser-Rand as a machinist for 10 years and at American Saint Gobain as a glass worker for over 27 years. He preceded in death by one son: Mancel H. Marchant, Jr. in December of 1998. Survivors include: wife, Orila Marchant of the home; four daughters: Brenda Turner and husband, Bob of Nuyaka, Oklahoma; Pat Cindle and husband, Bill of Checotah, Oklahoma; Judy Biven and husband, Gary of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Beverly Martin and husband, Dan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister: Thora Salsbury of Bakersfield, California; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Southside Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Larry Schoonover and Reverend Thom Duncan officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Robert Turner, Bill Cindle, Gary Biven, Dan Martin, Robert W. Turner and Shane Biven.
