Thelma Jo McCarty, 77, a resident of Okmulgee, 

died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in Okmulgee. She was

 born Thursday, February 23, 1928 to Jake and 

Vesta Viola (Wall) Exum in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. 

She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in 

Okmulgee and retired as an L.P.N. at the George Nigh 

Rehab Center. 

	

She was preceded in death by her husband, William McCarty 

on April 1, 2004 and one brother, Johnny Carpenter. 

	Survivors include: Three sons: James Robert Cummings, 

William A. McCarty and Joe Edward Cummings all of Okmulgee; 

three daughters: Leslie Jo Cummings, Carolyn R.Traywick and 

Diane Prentice all of Okmulgee; Twelve grandchildren and 

three great grandchildren. 

	

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005 

at the Kelley Chapel in Okmulgee with Reverend Ben Layton 

officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee

Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley 

Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
