She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. McCune in 1990. Thelma had lived in Tennessee, near her daughter Carol, since the death of her husband. The McCune’s lived in Mesa Arizona from 1972 to 1990. Thelma was born on September 12, 1910 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The oldest of five children born to Robert Daniel and Martha C. Thompson; Okmulgee oil pioneers. Mrs. McCune was a charter member of the ER Chapter of PEO, since its beginning in Okmulgee in 1963. She and Edward were members of the First United Methodist Church in Okmulgee and later, Velda Rose Methodist Church in Mesa Arizona. Survivors include: Two daughters, Martha McCune Fenger of St. Louis, Missouri and Carol McCune Burden and husband, Jerry of Hermitage, Tennessee. Three sisters, Ellen Thompson (Davis) O’Hara of Edmond, OK., Elizabeth Thompson Pitchford and Mary Ann Thompson (Burk) Allen both of Oklahoma City, OK. Sister in Law Juanita Thompson of Okmulgee, OK. Four Grandchildren; Christina Burden Stewart and husband David of Franklin, TN., Katherine Elizabeth Fenger of Atlanta, GA., Julia Ann Burden of Washington D.C., Eric Steffan Fenger of St. Pettersburg, Florida, and One Great Grandson, Daniel James Stewart and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kelley Chapel. Mrs. McCune’s son-in-law, Jerry Burden will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include: Dr. John Pitchford, James R. Thompson, Thomas Davis, Erick Fenger, T. Nick Fenger, and Jerry Burden. Memorials may be given to the Oklahoma Medical Research; 825 N.E. 13th st. in Oklahoma City, OK 73104 or to the Gideons International at 50 Century Blvd., Nashville, TN. 37214, for Bibles placed in memory of Thelma.
