     Thomas Dorsey Melton, 88, a resident of Okmulgee, 

died Monday, June 12, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 

He was born Friday, July 13, 1917 to Thomas Jefferson 

and Minnie (Seaton) Melton in Manitou, Oklahoma. 

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in 

Okmulgee and a member of the V.F.W. Post 539 in 

Henryetta. 

     On June 29, 1941, he married Louise Marie (Taylor) 

Melton in Okmulgee. She preceded him in death in 

June 1987. 

     Survivor include: one daughter: Paula Jean Johnson 

of Okmulgee; one grandson: Brian W. Johnson of 

Laredo, Texas; one granddaughter: Karen Louise 

Rumple and husband, Steve of Chandler, Arizona; several 

cousins, nieces and nephews. 

	Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 

2006 at the Kelley Chapel in Okmulgee with Dr. Frank 

Lewis officiating. Burial will follow the service at the 

Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the 

Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

	Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. 

to 8:00 p.m. at the Kelley Chapel.
