He was born Tuesday, August 29, 1933 to Raymond and Zena (Minor) Moats in Schulter, Oklahoma. Jerry was an entertainer and had a great love of gospel and country music. He was an ordained minister and would sing at churches and nursing homes bringing joy to the lives of many. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was employed with Creek Nation. He loved the outdoors and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Zena Moats, one brother: Hollis Moats. Survivors include: son: Marty Edward Moats and wife, Paige Pearce of Sand Springs; daughter: Tina Louise Stark of Tulsa; four sisters: Phyllis Wells and Patsy Henderson both of Dewar; Gloria D. Barrett of Okmulgee and Lois West of Biggs, CA; two grandchildren: Kaleigh Boltinghouse and Zachary Bailey. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Schulter Baptist Church with Reverend George Christy officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Garry Wells, Dennis Wells, Roger Wells, Stuart Cox, Clinton Caudill and Sonny Murphy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ryan Wells, Justin Wells, Adam Wells and Zachary Bailey. Military Honors at the gravesite will be provided by the United States Navy.
