Morehead. Thelma A. Morehead, 91, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity Memorial Park Cemetery in Big Spring with Mr. Rick Cunningham, of Big Spring, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Morehead was born in Stonewall, Okla., graduated from Norman High School at Norman, Okla., in 1926 and attended the University of Oklahoma. In 1929, she moved to Gageby, where she served as the Postmistress and owned and operated the General Store. In 1936, she moved to Big Spring, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church for 45 years, taught Sunday school for many years and was a homemaker. She was also active with Gideons International. In 1991, she moved to Amarillo, where she was a resident of Park Place Towers and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Gilbert "Gibby" Morehead in 1927 at Okmulgee, Okla. He died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Morehead, in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Doris McCullough of Amarillo; a son, Robert Earl Morehead of Houston; eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Viewing will be from noon until 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday at the funeral home in Amarillo and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Amarillo; or Gideon's International.
