She was born Thursday, October 15, 1931 to Otis and Ermine (Singleton) Wright in Lillian, Texas. She graduated from Morris High School in 1949 and on July 9, 1949, she married Nelson L. Morton in Van Buren, Arkansas. Mrs. Morton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morris, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Faye Cooper, an infant brother: Robert Gene Wright, one son: Nelson Morton, Jr. on June 24, 2002 and one granddaughter, Jamie Morton on June 2, 1988. Survivors include: her husband, Nelson L. Morton of the home; two sons: Jimmy Morton and wife, Karen and Jackie Morton, both of Morris; two brothers: Otis Wright and James Wright, both of Morris; two sisters: Dell Reed of Big Cabin, Ok and Palvene Ashing of Muskogee; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also survived by her friend family members: Joe Ed and Robbie Humphrey, Jack and Valta Rae Casselman, Lorene Rogers and her late husband, Kenneth. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Morris with Reverend Larry Catcher officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Morris Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Pete Belisle, Dan Boydston, Lawrence Middleton, Bob Sipple, Stan Strecker, Jerry Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Casselman and Joe Ed Humphrey.
