He was born Wednesday, December 6, 1933 to Harry Lee and Effie (Sanders) Stretch in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mr. Stretch served in the United States Army as a pastry chef from 1954 to 1957 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Moving to Okmulgee in 1957 with Oklahoma Natural Gas, he retired after approximately forty years as the District Superintendent. On November 3, 1980, he married Barbara Johnson in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was a Golden Gloves Champion, an avid bowler and he loved golfing and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He coached little leaguebaseball including an American Legion State Championship Team. For thirty-seven years he supported the Okmulgee Bulldog’s Football Team as a member of the “chain gang.” He was a lifetime member of the Okmulgee Elks Lodge 1822, serving as Esteemed Leading Knight, Lodge Officer, Trustee and Club Room Manager. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Lee Stretch and son: Michael Stretch. Survivors include: wife: Bobi Stretch of the home; mother: Effie Clay of Muskogee; one son: Kenneth Lee Stretch, Jr. and wife, Linda of Okay; four daughters: Kathy Chastain of Colorado; Susan Tounge of Kentucky; Melena Waits and husband, Kirk of Tulsa and Jill Davis and husband, Joe of Sand Springs; two sisters: Loretta Torix of Ft. Gibson and Dolores Sanders and husband, Jack of Muskogee; two brothers: Keith Stretch and wife, Betty of Wagoner and Ben Stretch and wife, Phyllis of Broken Arrow; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; four sister-in-laws: Tomi Murr of Lafayette, CA; Johnnie Jessen and Ken Lewis of Okmulgee; Jackie and Steve Stefani and Jimmie Roberts both of Coeur d’ Lane, ID. Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating. Burial will be at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery at a later date. Services are under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
