Taylor passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2006 in Atwater, CA. She was born September 26, 1922 in Coalton, Oklahoma, coming to and residing in California since the early forties. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harrison Taylor. Lorraine was the daughter of Margaret and Tommy Almerigi of Livingston. She was also preceded in death by her sister. Ursala Farley, of Atwater. Lorraine and Harrison had three children, Judy Rupe, married to Charles Leroy; Mickey Garcia, married to Louie and Rocky Taylor married to Allyson. She had eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Lorraine called Atwater her home since the late fifties, owning and operating Taylor Realty for nearly 30 years. She was Realtor of the year, and past president of the Merced County Board of Realtors. Lorraine was a Charter Member and twice president of the Soroptimist Club of Atwater. She was also a lifelong member and Past Matron of the Livingston Order of the Eastern Star. She served with pride on the Atwater City Planning Commission. She was part of the "Greatest Generation" helping build this great country after the depression and World War II. She worked in the defense factories in Los Angeles while Harrison served in the Italian Theater. They were quite a team. Unafraid of challenges and uncovering opportunities here in California they left family and friends in Oklahoma and Texas after the war and began a life together in the Retail Grocery business. Together they owned "Taylor's Italian Delicatessen on Shafer Road which eventually morphed into a neighborhood hardware store some years later. Harrison began a successful career with State Farm Insurance as an agent in Merced. together they farmed, managed their local properties, raised their family and loved a long and happy life. Lorraine loved Atwater and the Central Valley. She loved her family and her many friends. She was known to show up at bingo game now and then. One's life is an opportunity to offer some lessons for those that follow. Her teaching's include honesty, integrity, loyalty and undying love. Services will be private.
