Taft, died Saturday at Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pickett Chapel Indian Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Harjo officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 4 p.m. today. Burial will follow at the Simms Family Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Simms was born Aug. 31, 1916, in Sapulpa. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring in 1962 after attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Pickett Chapel Indian Methodist Church. Survivors include daughters Sharon Clark of Alaska, Waynona Shellings of Stillwater, Peggy West of Lexington, Eulanda of Florida and Kay Freeland of Prattville; son Yahola Simms II of Riverside, CA; sisters Fannie Gibson, Rosie Simms, Maxine Watashe and Madja Simms, all of Sapulpa, and Lillie Cox of Okmulgee; and eight grandchildren. ___________________ SIMMS, Yahola Sapulpa Herald, Creek Co., OK 10-16-1990 (Additional information not in the above obituary) Military services were conducted by the veterans organizations of Creek County.
