(Tulsa, Indian Terr.), Vol. 5, No. 279, Ed. 1 Thursday, August 11, 1910 Little Romance Ends in Tulsa Distance and Time Make the Hearts Grow Fonder and the Rest Proves Easy William J. Wirz of Preston, Okla., and Minnie E. Oudyn of Greenville, Ill., were married last night at the parsonage of Rev. W.T. Scott. And the "romancy" part of the affair was that neither had seen the other for a period of three years, until within three or four hours of the ceremony. Mr. Wirz has been working as an oil man at Preston, while the woman has all the while remained in Greenville - until, by agency of Uncle Sam and his mails, they completed arrangements to be married here last night at 8 o'clock. Both arrived in Tulsa on separate trains, Wirz coming first, in order to get the license, and complete the arrangements for the ceremony. According to information given by the pastor who tied the knot, their wedding was the culmination of a girlhood and boyhood romance back in Illinois. They had separated after several years of love making, the man coming west. He engaged in the oil business, and after three years of waiting the trouble was finally patched up. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Okmulgee County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/okmulgee/okmulgee.html
