Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Naomi Ruth "Grummie" was born in Oklahoma in 1902, and moved to Texas in a covered wagon in 1907. She was a wonderful storyteller of her life experiences as a child, about her pets, family and life on a farm. As a young adult of 14, she went to work, having many jobs in her long life. The ones that stand out are Williamson Dickie, J.C. Penney and she retired from GSA. At 19 she married Lester Howard Armstrong and was his wife for 55 years until his death in 1977. At 24 she became a loving mother to L.H. Jr. She was always busy with some project, travel or family endeavor and had the most positive attitude one could have, even in the worst situations. She was very health conscious with food and exercise, way before it was fashionable. She had traveled the continent, from shore to shore, and then some. She loved to paint, do needlework and write letters and diaries. Grummie said," I've led a blessed life and have seen marvelous changes in the world." She had a large spot in her heart for anyone who saw an injustice and tried to help make it right. She was preceded in death by husband, Lester Howard "Bump Bump," and her daughter-in-law, Louise "G-Nonnie." Survivors: Son, L.H. Armstrong Jr.; grandchildren, David Armstrong and wife, Kathy of Melbourne, Fla., Stephen Armstrong and wife, Deborah of Greenwich, Conn., Karen Morris of Arlington, Susan Yarbrough and husband, Pat of Mansfield; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great- grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
