Baker, Phyllis Jean "PJ"

Phyllis Jean "PJ" Baker passed away in her home with her family at 
her side on June 3, 2006, following her year long battle with cancer. 
She was born in Oklahoma to the late Alfred and Frankie Douglas. Her 
family moved to Bakersfield while she was a child and she remained in 
the Kern County area for most of her life. During her lifetime 
Phyllis was a very giving person to those in need. She helped many 
needy families receive Christmas presents, food and many other things 
that they might not have gotten otherwise. Her energetic personality 
made her the life of the party and she will be missed by many 
friends. Phyllis is survived by her daugher and son-in-law, Kammi and 
Dwayne Sargent; son, Joseph Gabriel Frye; son, Danny Shaun Gibbins; 
granddaughter, Gabrielle Gibbins; brother and his wife, Ray and 
Jonell Douglas; sister and her husband, Patti and John Venerable and 
her beloved companion and caretaker, Danny Gibbins. Memorial services 
will be held on Friday, June 9, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., at Mish Funeral 
Home in Oildale. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that 
donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
