All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Burger, Dorothea "Dottie" "Dottie" Burger, 80, passed away peacefully Dec. 30, 2006, from complications of pneumonia. Her son, Jim Gardner, was at her side. Dottie was born Dorothea Jean Rowland in Hannibal, Mo., on June 18, 1926. She was the fifth of six children born to Carl and Bessie (Fox) Rowland. She had two children, Jim Gardner of Ventura, and Jan Binter of Wichita, Kan. She married her first husband, James Edward Menefee (Jim's father) on April 21, 1946. They divorced in 1952. She married Reynold Gardner (Jan's father) on April 3, 1954. He was a petroleum engineer for Texaco. They lived in many towns in Oklahoma over the next 16 years. Reynold died in an auto accident July 20, 1970. After Reynold's death, she went back to school and got a nursing degree from Oklahoma State University. She married Carl Burger, an FAA certification pilot, on June 20, 1975. They lived in Kansas City for a year, Saudi Arabia for a year, and then in the Dallas Fort Worth area until his retirement in 1988, when they moved to Bella Vista, Ark. They divorced in 1996. She was in Ventura for her grandson's high school graduation in June 2001, when she had a stroke. She lived her last five years at the Venturan. Many thanks to her caregivers there. Dottie always sang in her church choir (alto), took part in the quilting club and had many hobbies which she excelled in. Stained glass, oil painting, cooking, sewing, to name a few. She made friends easily, and was loved by all who were privileged to know her. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Rowland; sisters, Elizabeth Oaks, Helen Rowland, and Ruth Turnbaugh. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ransdell of Hannibal, Mo.; son, Jim Gardner; and two grandchildren, Matt and Russell of Ventura; her daughter, Jan Binter; and two grandchildren, Billy and Grace of Wichita, Kan. A memorial service will be held for her at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 196 N. Ashwood Ave., Ventura. A reception will follow at the church.
