(Bob) Clark June 8, 1918 Jan. 12, 2006 A graveside service for Robert L. Bob Clark, 87, of North Bend, Oregon was held on Saturday, January 28th, at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay. An Open House and Time of Remembrance will be held in honor of Bob in Bakersfield, on Saturday, February 4, 2006, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. For information please call Pete Algra at (661) 822-1972 or James Clark at (661) 325-5587. Bob was born June 8, 1918, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Robert W. and Jessie (Wood) Clark. He died January 12, 2006, in Coos Bay. He was raised and educated in Oklahoma and Pittsburgh. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He then graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburg with a Master of Fine Arts in Speech and Drama. He returned to UCSB, where he taught and received a Masters degree in Education. In 1956, Bob joined the staff of Bakersfield College in California, where he served for 22 years until retiring as the Assistant Dean for Community Services in 1978. Bob married Nelva Keifer in 1942, and they divorced in 1970. He married Virginia Harmanson in 1975, and she preceded him in death in 1987. Bob married Margaret (Barry) Furman on November 14, 1992. Bob was an active member of the community in Bakersfield, and in North Bend. He was a past president of Kiwanis clubs in Bakersfield and Coos Bay, and had supported fund-raising projects for the American Red Cross and the American Lung Association. He also had been active in several professional organizations, including the College Association of Public Events and Services. He loved to travel; and also enjoyed lapidary, stained glass, bird watching, photography, music (he was an accomplished trumpet player) and camping. Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret Clark of North Bend; sons, Robert and Kathy Clark of Atascadero, CA, William Clark and Tracy Woodruff of Martinez, CA and Dr. James Clark D.D.S. and wife, Debbie of Bakersfield, CA; daughter, Diana C. Wood of Sacramento, CA; 10 grandchildren, Cassie Linnaea, Gabriel, Loren, Zachary, Jamie and Jacob Clark, Britney and Nick Minton, and Heather Wahanik; two great-grandchildren, Sofia Grace and Ethan Wahanik; sister, Grace Marie Clark of San Luis Obispo, CA; stepsons, Nick and Kathy Furman of Coos Bay and Peter Furman of Portland, OR; stepgranddaughters, Maylee Furman Brock of North Bend, OR and Amy Furman Thackery of Coos Bay, OR; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Mckenzie and Carter Brock of North Bend, OR. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Peirce.
