Davis, Travis Wayne

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Unity Church of 
Bakersfield (corner of Truxtun Avenue and E Street) on Saturday 
morning, April 28, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Travis is preceded in death by 
his parents, Marquis Reese and Allye Grandstaff Davis and his only 
brother, Marquis Reese Davis Jr. He is survived by his wife of 54 
years, Ada; his two sons, Alan A. Davis and his wife, Mary Ellen of 
Lee's Summit, MO and Fredrick William Davis and his wife, Vikki of 
Santa Paula, CA; his grandchildren, Dr. Michael A. Davis and his 
fiancée, Dr. Renee Ireton, Casey Dee Davis and Lori Ann Randle; one 
step-granddaughter, Kim Shadoan and her husband, Daniel; five great-
grandchildren and by his "special daughter", Brenda L. Davis of 
Collierville, TN. Travis served four years in the U.S. Navy during 
World War II. He attended schools in Oklahoma and Texas and he 
graduated from the Anson, Texas High School in 1939. After his return 
from the service, he attended college in Norman, Oklahoma and Fresno 
State. He left college and worked in Bakersfield where he met and 
married his wife Ada in 1953. He worked for Miller & York Drilling 
Contractors and then for Tenneco and retired in 1985. For the next 20 
years he and Ada traveled in their motorhome all over the United 
States, Alaska and Canada and claimed it was the most wonderful years 
of their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests an honorary 
in his memory to the Unity Church of Bakersfield, 1610 E Street 
Bakersfield, CA 93301 or to the Odyssey Hospice HealthCare of 
Bakersfield, 3701 Pegasus Drive Suite 102 Bakersfield, CA 93308 or
