Dicks and James H. Dicks from 4-28-2003 Examiner Enterprise James H. and Carol R. Dicks, Bartlesville residents died within two days of each other due to lengthy illnesses, fulfilling their wedding vows of "till death do us part". Mrs. Carol Ruth (Fuqua) Dicks, 68, died at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th. and James Herbert Dicks, 73, died at 1:55 p.m. on Saturday, April 26th. at their Bartlesville home with their immediate family close by. Mrs. Carol Ruth Dicks and James Herbert Dicks will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of the Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where friends may call on Monday and Tuesday. Funeral services for James and Carol Dicks will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the sanctuary of the Tuxedo Assembly of God Church. Officiating pastors will be Rev. Charles McKnight, Rev. Brett Luallen and Rev. Alfred Haymaker. The funeral cortege will drive overland to Seminole, Oklahoma where committal prayers and final rites will be directed in the Maple Grove Cemetry by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Carol Ruth (Fuqua) Dicks was a native of Arkansas and moved to Oklahoma early in life to complete her education. James and Carol were united in marriage August 29, 1952 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Carol's life was selflessly devoted to rearing her children and caring for her family. Her church life and relationship with God was her cornerstone from which she received her stength and caring nature. Carol had many gifts in which she ministerd to others which was made evident by the love and care she received during her illness. James Herbert Dicks was a native of Oklahoma where he was reared and in turn reared his family. A testament to his life and character could be seen in the fact that during his entire education and 39 years with Southwestern Bell, James never missed a day. He was admired by his employers and co-workers for his hard work and fairness with others. His devotion to his work came second only to his devotion to his family where he is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is highly respected by all as a true man of God. This was made manifest in the unconditional love he shared toward others. James and Carol retired to Lake Eufaula in 1990 and lived there until moving to Bartlesville in 2000 to live in retirement. Surviving are their two daughters and their husbands, Ben and Marsha Whitehead, Waco, Texas, Dean and Joy Cook, Bartlesville; five grandchildren, Aaron and wife, Ronna Whitehead, Kristy Whitehead, Daniel Shearer, Justin Shearer and Thomas Cook; two great grandchildren, Amber and Autumn Whitehead; Carol's brother, Leonard Ray and wife, Billie Jean "B.J." Fuqua, Arlington, Texas, her sister, Mrs. Alice Marie Poplin, Carrollton, Texas.
