All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery--Medford OR Mail Tribune Oct 3, 2006 Louise Dunlap 1920 ~ 2006 Louise Dunlap of Ruch, Ore., passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30th at the age of 86. Born in Oklahoma on January 17, 1920, Louise spent her early childhood in Arvin, Calif. with her parents, Virginia and Albert Stewart, before moving to Gold Hill, Ore. In 1937, she married Marion Dunlap, her husband of 64 years. The couple moved to the Applegate area in 1943 and led a remarkable life building their farm and starting a family with daughter, Shirley, born in 1937, and son, Noel, born in 1941. As one of the original families to settle the area, they set about building their home from the property's timber themselves with jack-and-jill saws and self- made equipment. Louise sustained the family with her signature garden and continued to enjoy this hobby until the end of her life. She was an active Ruch Grange member, contributing to her community for most of her years. She was also a supporter and sponsor of local 4-H events for both her children and grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Dunlap; her daughter, Shirley Madden; her granddaughter, Dawn Madden and grandson, William Madden, Jr. Louise is survived by her son, Noel E. Dunlap and wife, Cathy; and grandchildren, Tami McLaughlin and her husband, Andy, and their sons, Matthew, Thomas and Scott; grandson, John Dunlap and his wife, Anne, and their children, Christian, Daniel and Addison Dunlap; granddaughter, Heidi Olson and her daughter, Haley Olson; granddaughter, Rita Roberts and her husband, Jim, with son, Jacob; and granddaughter, Joanna Madden and her husband, David Ashmore. She is remembered by many as a green thumb, animal lover and gifted pie baker.
