All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Bakersfield Californian 30 November 2004 RACHEL ALINE FITZGERALD 4/18/1924 - 11/23/2004 Rachel Fitzgerald was born on April 18, 1924, in Oklahoma to John and Ethel Jonas. In 1926 her family moved to California where she lived all of her life. Following her graduation from Kern County Union High School in Bakersfield in 1942, she moved to Long Beach to work as a welder during World War II. Shortly thereafter she met and married her lifetime husband and best friend, Martin Fitzgerald. They were married for 59 years. Rachel died suddenly after a short illness on November 24, 2004. Rachel was a loving wife and mother whose quiet presence filled her house with love. She was a beautiful woman and will be greatly missed. Rachel is survived by her loving husband Martin Fitzgerald; her daughter Vickie Perley; her son and daughter-in-law Ed and Pamela Fitzgerald; her sister Mabel Smith; and her two grandchildren Lauren Perley and Joshua Fitzgerald. Services will be held at The Mission Family Mortuary, 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3. No visitation.
