FERGUSON COLUMN: Let The Public Speak Editor: I was born in Oklahoma near the border with Texas. I was raised a few miles south across that border. Since that was in the first decade of this century it follows I would grow up as a Democrat. I remained a Democrat until I grew up some more; then I became a Republican. Twenty three years ago, I retired and grew up some more. I read history, newspapers, followed events worldwide and wound up with an entirely changed view of America. Our corrupt political system is rapidly destroying the country. This nation will go into bankruptcy within 15 or 20 years, maybe sooner. And guess what? Republicans will blame Democrats and Democrats will blame Republicans. No one will accept responsibility for what happens. I know who caused the destruction of America. Anyone who is honest enough to sit down and look in a mirror can see who caused all of our problems. Our problems are caused by people like me who vote for their party expecting to be rewarded with more goodies. Any intelligent person knows we must quit spending and start paying off the debt, but don't cut my goodies. Cut everybody else but not me. I will be 87 years old in a few weeks. For the first time in my life I cannot force myself to do what I have always done. That is vote for someone, usually lesser of two evils. Nothing will change in Washington. The greed and corruption will continue until a total collapse. I would like to feel that in the end, I did not contribute to it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Unknown County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/okstate.html
