All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== RORY GARCIA Published on September 4, 1996 The Santa Rosa Press Democratt Rory Garcia, a Sonoma County resident for 23 years, died Saturday at a Santa Rosa hospital after battling cancer more than two years. She was 48. Born in Oklahoma and of Cherokee descent, Garcia spent most of her childhood in Richmond. Tapping her heritage, she enjoyed crafts and designed and created elaborate Indian jewelry. Her family said Garcia was a giving person who helped counsel cancer patients while fighting her own cancer. She worked as a legal secretary in Sonoma County government from 1982 in Municipal Court, Animal Regulations and last in the Probation Department, the latter ended by her illness. Garcia was a passionate Motown music buff. She is survived by her husband, Bob Garcia of Sebastopol; sons, Lance Yaeger and Cody Garcia, both of Sebastopol, and David Earll; and her mother, Elsie Bailey of Sebastopol. Friends can visit from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Sebastopol, 301 N. Main St. Friends can meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary then attend an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church in Sebastopol. Burial will be at Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
