Grant Jr., 81, a retired retailer, passed away, Tuesday, June 27, 2006, in Grand Prairie. Memorial service: 3:30 p.m. Friday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation. Frank Grant was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Oklahoma. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in India. He was the only serviceman to have a Bengal tiger living with him in the camp. Frank returned to Lubbock to finish his college degree at Texas Tech. He met and married Helen Jane Hess in 1952 and started his career at Dunlaps Department Stores. He also worked for other retail stores, including Hempil Wells, Diamonds and Dillards department stores in management positions. During his retail career, Frank and his family were transferred to California, Nevada, Arizona, Oklahoma and then finally back to Texas. Frank always saw the positives in life and always had a cheerful thought. He never met a person he did not like. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, the mother of his three sons. Survivors: Sons, Michael P. Grant, Franklin "Pierce" Grant III and his wife, Heather, and Benjamin D. Grant; grandchildren, Ian and Landiss; sisters, June Salick, Dorris Ann St. John and Nell Schmidt; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members.
