All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Sally Lila Havens July 31, 1918 Aug. 28, 2002 Went to be with her Lord and Savior Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara Chapel for Sally Lila Havens. Reverend Allen Palm of Arvin Assembly of God will officiate and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, Sherman Dode Havens. Sally met the love of her life in 1993, marrying on March 26, 1996. To know Sally was to love her. She is also survived by her two daughters, Carol Sue Peterson, Patricia Jane Doolittle and her husband, John Doolittle; grandson, Curt Peterson of Nashville, TN; three brothers, Richard and Rayne Crick of Nevada, and Joe Crick of California. Sally was born in Cornersville, TN, and moved to Oklahoma at the age of two. In the year 1947, she and her husband and two daughters moved to Bakersfield to find work. Some of her jobs in the beginning included picking cotton, the packing sheds, and later working for Brocks Dept. Store. Her last job was with Doughty- Calhoun-OMeara where she worked for 12 years, retiring at the age of 75. (Her motto was get a job). She loved her Womens Mission Group at Canyon Hills Church and the Primetimers. Sally loved the Lord. She was a wonderful mother, a great homemaker, and baked a great deal. Her chocolate pies and potato salad were among her specialties. She was always there to take food to people in need. She played a great game of dominoes. All who knew her will truly miss her, but we know she is in a better place and we will see her again someday. The family wishes to thank Optimal Hospice for all their care and compassion.
