Born Sept. 7, 1916, in Pirtle, Okla., he was 84. He was a roofer, farmer and Baptist minister. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters, Jack Hicks, Wesley Jones, Mose Jones, James Jones, Annie Mae Hicks-Carr, Birdie Hicks, Julia Faye-Hicks and Rena Jones. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Minnie J. Hicks of Winters; four children, Jay Mills of Winters, Billy Hicks of Davis, Ellen Rutledge of Dixon and Esther Brewer of Winters; two brothers, Lois Hicks of Oklahoma and Warren Hicks-Small Bear of Arizona; two sisters, Lillian Hicks-Swindell of Texas and Helen Hicks-Clymore of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to a time of visitation Friday at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral at 11 a.m., both at Smith's Colonial Chapel, 14 Main St., in Winters. Interment will follow at the Capay Cemetery.
