Hernandez Memorial Services to held 10 a. m., Dec. 18, 2001 at Valley Baptist Church, Bakersfield, Ca, for Anita M. Hernandez. She died Dec. 9, at the age of 62. Anita was selfless and loving. Born in Oklahoma, Anita came to California as a child. She grew up in Southern California and graduated from Pasadena High School. After graduating, Anita became a working wife and mother. For the next 44 years she always put her family first. She divorced in 1976 but became a strong, self-sufficient woman. Throughout all her life, she always gave complete loving support and care to her three children. She first became a grandmother in 1984, with the most recent of her six grandchildren born in 2000. Anita moved to Bakersfield in 1998 to be closer to her parents and began working for the County of Kern until she retired in 2000. She had just begun to enjoy her retirement when cancer dealt its blow. But the cancer did not take her from usthe Lord called her to occupy the mansion he had built for her. She was most courageous and kept a hopeful attitude throughout her illness. She will be missed, but her family and friends have peace knowing that all of her pain is gone and she now has the peace and happiness she sought and deserved.
