All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Riverside National Cemetery--Riverside CA Haskell Lynn Carper "Hack" By FONTANA HERALD NEWS 5 Apr 2007 Haskell Lynn Carper "Hack," 86, died Tuesday, March 27 at his home in Fontana of congestive heart failure. A native of Oklahoma, Carper was a resident of Fontana for 47 years. He was a project superintendent for many of the skyscrapers that line the Los Angeles skyline today. He retired in 1987 from Swinerton and Walberg Construction after 45 years in the building industry. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He coached baseball and was a member of the Fontana Gridiron Club, as well as being an avid golfer. Carper is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilma; two sons, Glenn Woods (Judith) of Idaho and Steven (Shelly) of Rancho Cucamonga; and one brother, Larry Carper of Las Vegas. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Ross in 1994 and his friend Jim Mizysak. Other friends included Stan Dickey of Fontana and Travis Henderson of Riverside. Funeral was held Sunday, April 1 at Stanley L. Dickey Mortuary, Fontana, with burial on Monday, April 2 at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 7, Riverside.
