All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== :: Tucson Citizen, Tucson AZ JOHNSON, ELIZABETH MANSFIELD 83, passed away January 18, 2005. She was born in Clearwater, Oregon to James A. Mansfield and Minnie Alice Hedges Mansfield. As a youth, Elizabeth moved around the U.S. with her family and father who built Railroad Bridges. Elizabeth graduated from Enid High School in OK in 1939. She attended the University of Oklahoma for 2 years prior to her marriage to Sam H. Johnson Jr. on January 30th 1941. They remained at OU until WW II. Later Elizabeth returned to OU, and in 1980 earned her BA in Journalism. She and Sam lived in Longview TX for 47 years, prior to moving to Tucson in 1999. Elizabeth's parents families were pioneers of Ohio and she and her husband, Sam, published three family genealogy books. She was a member of DAR and the First Families of Ohio. She was a member of the Greatest Generation. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Sam H. Johnson Jr; children: Mary (Jim) Hardcastle of Denton, TX, Sam III (Jane) of Tucson, Dr. Barbara Groves, of San Diego, four grandchildren, Christine, Anne, Sam IV, Tamara; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Elizabeth's brother, Clarence A. Mansfield and sister, Mildred Hitchcock; many nieces and nephews and extended family. A Graveside service & interment, 11:00 a.m. Friday January 21, 2005 at South Lawn Cemetery.
