All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Harold "Kirk" Klahr MANCOS, Colo. - Harold "Kirk" Klahr, 97, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died Saturday, April 20, 2002. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo with the Rev. Jerry Coffman officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Klahr was born May 3, 1904, one of nine children born to Harry Franklin Klahr and Emma Wycoff Klahr. He was born in Indian Territory in Oklahoma before it became a state. He was a retired dairyman in Oklahoma. He loved to work on his dairy farm, grow fruit trees and can the fruit. He made trips to Idaho in the summer and fished with Ernest Hemingway in the Big Wood River in Ketchum. He loved children and reading his Bible. He was the oldest Master Mason in the Oologah, Okla., Lodge. He was an active member of Southern Baptist Church his whole life. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Bernice; two sons, Arthur E. Klahr of Amarillo and H.R. Klahr and wife, Kimi, of Durango, Colo.; a daughter, Dolly Gartell and husband, Bill, of Amarillo; a sister, Mamie Breese of Siloam Springs, Ark.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to any local Masonic Lodge or Masonic Children's Home.
