Long Willis M. Long, 81, of Marysville died Feb. 18, 2007, at his residence. Born in Amarillo, Texas, he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for four years, formerly living in Oklahoma. Retired, he was a heavy equipment operator for 50 years and a member of Operating Engineers Local No. 3. Also, he was a decorated veteran, serving as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 42 in Marysville and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Oklahoma. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Walden of Marysville; a son, Stephen Long of Arkansas; a sister, Tress Hoggerty of Southern California; a brother, Jack Long Sr. of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Long. Donations may be made to American Legion Post 42, P.O. Box 230, Marysville, CA 95901; or Sutter North Hospice, 826 Fourth St., Marysville. Services: Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Holycross Memorial Chapel in Yuba City. A funeral service is at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, 1777 Eighth Ave., Olivehurst, with the Rev. Mike Jurna officiating.
