All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Kitty Burrus Metcalf, 87, of Canyon died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lowrie and Dr. Strauss Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Metcalf was born Jan. 11, 1915, to Stonewall and Maggie Wells Burrus in Randlette, Okla. She was a graduate of Canyon High School. She married Ray Metcalf in 1937 at Tulia. They lived in Panhandle two years before moving to a farm west of Canyon in 1940 and moved to Canyon in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Canyon where she taught Sunday school for 27 years. She worked with the hospital auxiliary at Palo Duro Hospital from 1981 to 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; and a daughter, Glenda May Metcalf in 1946. Survivors include two sons, Jack Metcalf of Amarillo and Glen Metcalf of Canyon; a daughter, Linda Blass of Fort Worth; a sister, Beatrice Hager of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church Prayer Room, 1717 Fourth Ave., Canyon, TX 79015.
