All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Etta Mitchell CLOVIS, N.M. - Etta Mitchell, 103, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Indian Territory and spent her childhood in Oklahoma before moving to New Mexico in 1929. She was a farmer at Ranchvale and cooked at the officer's club at the Air Force base during World War II, was a dietitian at Clovis Memorial Hospital and at Highland School and cooked for five years at the Sacred Heart School at the Catholic Church. Later, she cared for the elderly in her home. She married Asa Wade Eaton in 1909. He died in 1933. Her second husband, Floyd Mitchell, died in 1969. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Emil Eaton and Austin Eaton, a daughter, Alma Holland, and a granddaughter, Frankie Eaton. Survivors include two daughters, Rubye Cooper and Christina Hodges, both of Clovis; a sister, Julia Mantooth of Maysville, Okla.; a brother, Eulys Ray Baker of Clovis; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 44 great- great-grandchildren; and three great-great-greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home.
