Born in Oklahoma on April 18, 1915, he attended Creighton Medical School. After a residence at USC, he moved to Long Beach in 1941. He was a physician at Douglas Aircraft Company, practiced anesthesia at Seaside Hospital, Memorial Medical Center and had a private practice as a family physician. He was a member of The American Medical Association, Rotary and Virginia Country Club. After moving to La Quinta in 1975 he was active at Kennedy Hospital, Artesian Acres Duck Club and La Quinta Country Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and tennis player. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly and son, Robert. Survived by daughter, Margie Masterson (Jon) of Long Beach; sons, Dick Matlock (Jo) of Colorado Springs and Bill Matlock (Randy Beineke) of Denver; fiv e granddaughters and six grandchildren. Family suggests memorial contributions to Ducks Unlimited Brighton Chapter, 9054 Weld Co. Rd. 19 Ft. Lupton, CO 80621. As he requested, there will be no services.
