During his lifetime, he called many places home, but lived the majority of his life in Taft, CA. He is now in his eternal home with his Savior Jesus Christ, his son, Gary, great-granddaughter, Misty, and his parents, brothers and sisters who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ladine Miller of Bakersfield, CA; son, Paul G. Miller, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Millie Miller of Ellensburg, WA; daughter-in-law, Jean Miller of Montgomery, TX; son, R. David Miller and daughter-in-law, Ann Miller of Olympia, WA; daughter, Kathleen Fletcher and son-in-law, Allen Fletcher of Bakersfield, CA; and son, Dan Miller and daughter-in-law, Jody Miller of Bakersfield, CA. He loved his 14 wonderful grandchildren and the many great- grandchildren who also survive him. Paul worked many jobs during his 90 years on this earth, but his job as a lab technician for Oklahoma Steel & Casting during WWII gave him the fondest memories. He also worked many years as a contract house painter in Washington and California before starting a career with Standard Oil (Chevron) in Taft. After retiring in 1981, he and Ladine were able to travel; visiting family and exploring new areas. Paul loved the outdoors. He loved to hike and fish, but his greatest hobby was nature photography. Some of his pictures can still be seen at the Westside Oilfield Museum and other locations in Taft. He also loved gardening, especially cactus plants. The prolific flowers on the cacti in his front yard were featured in the Midway Driller on more than one occasion. As a young boy growing up in Oklahoma, he admired the cowboy lifestyle and enjoyed riding his horse much more than hitching her to the plow. In his later years his passion for horses was rekindled, evidenced by the many statutes, pictures, and books of horses and cowboys that adorned his room. Paul was a devout Christian, devoted husband, and an exemplary role model. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We thank all for their prayers and love during this time. The family would like to express our deep appreciation to Dr. Byron Mui and his wonderful staff, and all of the loving people at Hoffmann Hospice and Mercy Hospital, who provided such compassionate care for Paul in his final days with us. We are also very thankful to the staff at Beverly Manor for their friendship and care given to Paul, as he sat by his wifes bedside during the past three years. Visitation at Erickson & Brown Funeral Home in Taft will be on Tuesday 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services will be held there on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Westside Cemetery.
